Biography
Liu Wang was born in March 1969 in Pingyao, Shanxi Province. He was recruited into the PLA Air Force in August 1988 and had accumulated over 1,000 flight hours during his service as a fighter jet pilot. He became one of the first 14 astronaut candidates for Project 921 in 1998, but had not been assigned to any mission until 2012. He holds a Master degree.
